Dog Whisperer goes off leash in Dawson Creek

Internationally loved Dog Whispered Cesar Millan addresses a big crowd at the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek on Monday night.

Dawson Creek had quite the (doggie) treat when the one-and-only Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan, came to the Encana Events Centre on Monday, Nov. 12 for his Trust Your Instincts Tour.

A large crowd got to listen to Millan discuss his upbringing, his experiences training dogs and his thoughts on how to find your dog “harmony and balance,” what he called a dog’s goal in life.

Using video clips, presentations and funny skits (one including his youngest son), Millan led by example on how to correct and lead your dog into a “calm, submissive state,” some which had the crowd roaring with laughter.

Highlights of the night was when Millan would bring out local dogs and their owners to talk about issues or, in one example, how rescuing animals from shelters can be beneficial to the dog, your family and society. A great example was when Millan brought out Willow and her dog Asia, a dog that went from an aggressive shelter dog to Western Canada’s only cadaver dog.

“Thank you for coming,” Willow said to Millan on stage. “Good things don’t happen much up here.”
