Fort St. John's first baby of 2013 is Sarah Nicole Cornell-Martinez, who arrived at 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 1. After 13 hours of labour, Sarah came into the world at Fort St. John Hospital and Peace Villa with a full head of hair, weighing 5 lbs 14 oz. First-time parents Rebecca Cornell and Leonardo Martinez couldn't be happier.
"My belly was pretty big. I thought she was going to be a big girl but she wasn't," Cornell said. "It's a good omen for a new year with a new baby. It's good for my family. Everybody is so excited. It's my first baby, everyone was so happy and calling me saying, 'You have a New Year's baby!'"
