RCMP have confirmed two people died last night in the explosion that destroyed a Southridge trailer park home.
Neighbours of the home at 9207 82nd Street experienced a loud blast that shook their walls "like an earthquake" last night around 10:16 p.m.
One neighbour tried to enter the residence and assist any occupants, but was unable due to the intense heat and flames. The Fort St. John fire department extinguished fires around midnight.
"Police can confirm that two deceased persons have been located inside the residence and police are currently working to positively identify these victims," said RCMP Corporal Kate Bamber in a press release.
The Fort St. John Forensic Identification Unit is investigating the scene in conjunction with the fire department and B.C. Coroner's Service. The cause of the explosion and fire is unknown. RCMP ask that members of the public contact police with any information.
