Candidates running for Hudson's Hope district council

Dave Heiberg is poised to take the mayor's chair in Hudson's Hope, while residents will be tasked to choose his council.

Heiberg, first elected to council in 2011, is the only declared candidate for mayor.

Incumbent councillors Mattis Gibb, Kelly Miller, and Travous Quibell are seeking re-election.

Joseph King, Patricia Markin, Valerie Paice, and Leigh Summer are also seeking a seat.

Anyone can challenge a candidate's nomination by 4 p.m. on Sept. 18.

Candidates can still withdraw from the race by Sept. 21 at 4 p.m.

Heiberg moved to Hudson’s Hope in September 1980 to accept a high school teaching position. He was elected to council in 2011 and again in 2014.

Council

• Kelly Miller

Kelly Miller.

Miller and his family moved to Hudson’s Hope in 1974, settling on Beryl Prairie. He was elected to council in 2011 and again in 2014.

• Mattias Gibbs

Gibbs is a capital project manager at BC Hydro, and was elected in a byelection in January 2018.

• Travous Quibell. Quibell is an incumbent, with a history on and off district council stretching back to 2002, when he was first elected.

• Valerie Paice.

• Patricia Markin.

• Leigh Summer.

• Joseph King.

Election day is Oct. 20, with advanced voting on Oct. 10 and 17.
