Name: Desirae Graziano
Occupation: Events co-ordinator and personal housekeeper (Little Things Misc. Services/Self Employed)
Community Involvement: 15-year resident, long-time local volunteer (3 years with TMHA). Built a home and raising a family.
Why are you running for district council?
I chose to run for council to be a representative for the younger families of Taylor as the average age of a resident is 35. I understand financial struggles, rising cost of living, and the fluctuations of our industries. However, I am also concerned for the quality of life for local seniors including housing/care.
What are your top 3 priorities?
-
Local incentives for adequate training to keep services and residents within Taylor
-
Public transit for all ages. Enabling access to services and encouraging independence
-
Golf course management and promoting more events (Increasing tourism, local business etc.)
The district has an extra million dollars - How do you spend it?
Ensuring our public works or emergency services have new/improved equipment/training.
Picture Taylor in 2032. What do you see?
Ten years from now I would like the pristine valley to remain just as beautiful as it is today. Better air quality, additional recreation facilities (spray park and or dog park), senior’s care building. But still holding onto what makes Taylor special the small-town feel, affordable family events, and a booming industry town with some greener alternatives.
What's the last local event you attended?
Taylor Speedway Hit To Pass. There is something special about the crowd, the big lights, the fast-food smells, and the work that goes into the vehicles on the track. Good family fun!
What's the last movie or book you enjoyed and why?
Top Gun, well it’s pretty great!
What's your dream post-pandemic vacation?
Hands down, African Safari (sight-seeing adventure). The culture and animals would be life-changing to experience.
Taylor's best kept secret is...
Hmmm, well if you are a resident, we have plenty of great things! But as secrets go, not everyone knows about the grass dump, community greenhouses/gardens. Ensuring compost and food security. And our local small business have delicious treats!
