Art Gallery News — March 2019

With April Showers right around the corner, I think all of us are eager for May flowers! There's such a terrific spring and summer ahead at Peace Gallery North that it's not just long, warm summer days that are coming soon — there are some great events, contests, and opportunities coming up, definitely something for everyone to look forward to.

Friday, April 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. will be the opening for the 37th Annual Peace Liard Regional Juried Art Exhibition and the 2nd Annual Regional Youth Art Exhibit. Come down for some great art, live music, refreshments and appetizers as we celebrate the work of artists from all over the region.

The diversity of the work is truly amazing from pottery to traditional leather & bead work, carvings to textiles and oils and so much more. We only have the privilege of hosting this event once every five years and will be only be displayed until April 27 — truly a must see!

Getting creative

Our spring workshops are wrapping with only two left on the agenda. They are both on May 11 so you do need to chose how you would like to spend the afternoon! Will it be bringing your needle and scissors to do a Textile Collage Exploration with Barb? Or how about a colourful day with Diana and Mary with an introduction to Drypoint Print Making? Check out the details at npcc.bc.ca

For the artist

Spring is an excellent time to try something new and we are always receiving information on excellent opportunities! There are some deadlines though so don't wait to long to answer the call for Ambassadors for the 2019 BC Culture Days, which comes with awards, mentorships, promotions and marketing — what a great opportunity!

Also up for offer is the Toni Onley Artists Project in Beautiful Wells, B.C. Don't delay! Stop by to check out the bulletin board - your next big creative adventure could be waiting!

For the writer

The 1st Annual Ekphrastic Writing Contest: Stroll through the Peace Liard Regional Exhibition, choose the work of art that moves you, and write! Winners will be included in a chap book that will be launched at the 2019 Wild Words North Event!

See you at the Trade Show April 5 to 7 at the Pomeroy Sport Centre. Look for the Cultural Centre booth upstairs, sponsor a new theatre seat! Join the Peace Gallery Art Society! Check out Let's Art for the Kids! See what shows are coming to the theatre! Pick up the Gallery Exhibition Schedule! Or, just stop and say hi — because we are always looking forward to see you!
