Hospitals in Dawson Creek and Chetwynd remain open, but are only accepting emergency room patients due to staffing issues related to the flooding in the region, Northern Health said.

The Chetwynd Medical Clinic is closed due to the washout of 50th Street which has cut off access to the building. Northern Health says patients who had appointments will be contacted to be rebooked or directed to the hospital.

"We are asking the public in Dawson Creek (and) Chetwynd to use the hospital for emergencies only," the health authority said in a release.

Northern Health expects updates to continue throughout the day.
