This K Fresh brand of enoki mushrooms has been recalled by the CFIA

A particular brand of enoki mushrooms is being recalled due to a possible listeria contamination.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has warned people not to consume the K-Fresh brand of enoki mushrooms.

What to do if you have these recalled enoki mushrooms

The CFIA has advised people not to consume, use, sell, serve, or distribute the recalled product, which is distributed by Richmond-based Kam Ding Investment on Mitchell Island.

Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

The recalled product, says the CFIA, has been sold in B.C. and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories.

What should you do if you get sick from eating the mushrooms?

If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, contact your healthcare provider.

Food contaminated with listeria may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die.
