A northern B.C. contractor has been recognized for its work upgrading Highway 97 near Chetwynd.
Formula Contractors was among the winners at the 2019 B.C. Highways Contractor Awards in Victoria on Friday, Dec. 6, and received an award of excellence for bridge and structures construction.
The company was tasked with replacing the Bowlder Creek culvert on Highway 97 near Chetwynd with a 30.5-metre, two-lane bridge, and highway approaches, the Ministry of Transportation said. The $6 million project was part of work to repair damages from the 2016 floods in the Peace region.
"The project also included stream channel stabilization work and environmental management," the ministry said.
"When the fish salvage was delayed, Formula Contractors worked extra hours to complete the under-span riprap to keep the girder delivery and placement on schedule. Working with the Moberly Lake Band as environmental observers, Formula Contractors and its partners completed this project on time and under budget."
Formula has offices in Prince George, Pouce Coupe, and Victoria.
