Northeast B.C. Rig Report - December 19

Ten drilling rigs remained at work this week in Northeast B.C.

One-quarter of the region's fleet is active, with 32 rigs down, and with producers focused in the Tower Lake and Town areas.

  • Ensign 45 is drilling for gas for Encana at Tower Lake. Spud was Dec. 9.


  • Ensign 49 is drilling for gas for Encana at Tower Lake. Spud was Dec. 18.


  • Ensign 55 is drilling for gas for Encana at Tower Lake. Spud was Dec. 8.

  • Horizon 41 is drilling for gas for Encana at Tower Lake. Spud was Dec. 7.

  • Horizon 55 is drilling for gas for Kelt Exploration at Cache Creek. Spud was Dec. 19.

  • Nabors 120 is drilling for gas for Petronas at Town. Spud was Dec. 9.

  • Precision 538 is drilling for gas for Tourmaline at Sunrise. Spud was Dec. 19.

  • Precision 544 is drilling for gas for Petronas at Town. Spud was Dec. 11.

  • Precision 546 is drilling for gas for Tourmaline at Town. Spud was Dec. 12.

  • Precision 867 is drilling for gas for ConocoPhillips at Blueberry. Dec. 4.

Across Western Canada, 128 rigs are at work, one-quarter of the fleet, and down from 167 last week.

Alberta has 94 rigs working, down 20; Saskatchewan has 24 rigs working, down 13. No rigs are working in Manitoba.

There were 152 rigs at work in Canada this time last year. 

The next weekly rig report will be released in the new year, starting Jan. 9.

Data from RigLocator is compiled twice daily based on reports from the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors.
