Northeast B.C. Rig Report - January 16

More than half of Canada's drilling fleet is at work this week after the Christmas break, with 19 rigs active in Northeast B.C.

Nearly half the B.C. fleet is at work today, with 21 rigs down, and with Akita, Ensign, Horizon, and Precision all adding rigs to the field.

  • Akita 35 is drilling for gas for Storm Resources at Fireweed. Spud was Jan. 8

  • Ensign 40 is drilling for gas for Painted Pony at Kobes. Spud was Jan. 4.

  • Ensign 45 is drilling for gas for Encana at Tower Lake. Spud was Dec. 31.

  • Ensign 46 is drilling for gas for Pacific Canbriam Energy at Altares. Spud was Jan. 7.

  • Ensign 49 is drilling for gas for Encana at Tower Lake. Spud was Jan. 14.

  • Ensign 55 is drilling for gas for Encana at Tower Lake. Spud was Jan 5.

  • Ensign 437 is drilling for gas for Black Swan at Nig Creek. Spud was Jan. 15.

  • Ensign is moving rig 444 at Laprise Creek for Saguaro Resources.

  • Horizon 41 is drilling for gas for Encana at Sunrise. Spud was Jan. 9.

  • Horizon 52 is drilling for gas for Kelt Exploration at Oak. Spud was Jan. 14.

  • Horizon 55 is drilling for gas for Kelt Exploration at Cache Creek. Spud was Jan. 14.

  • Nabors 120 is drilling for gas for Petronas at Town. Spud was Jan. 5.

  • Precision 185 is drilling for gas for ARC Resources at Parkland. Spud was Jan.16.

  • Precision 533 is drilling for gas for Tourmaline at Town. Spud was Jan. 16.

  • Precision 538 is drilling for gas for Tourmaline at Sunrise. Spud was Jan. 15.

  • Precision 542 is drilling for gas for ARC Resources at Parkland. Spud was Jan. 9.

  • Precision 544 is drilling for gas for Petronas at Town. Spud was Jan. 6.

  • Precision 546 is drilling for gas for Tourmaline at Town. Spud was Jan. 7.

  • Precision 867 is drilling for gas for ConocoPhillips at Blueberry. Spud was Jan. 8.

Across Western Canada, 265 rigs are at work, 51% of the fleet.

Alberta has 174 rigs working, with 67 active in Saskatchewan, and five in Manitoba.

There were 230 rigs at work in Canada this time last year. 

Data is from RigLocator, and compiled twice daily based on reports from the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors.
