Northeast B.C. Rig Report - November 21

Ensign Drilling and Precision Drilling put two more rigs to work this week in Northeast B.C.

The companies added a rig each to Tower Lake to drill for gas for Encana, bringing the region's active fleet to 11, according to RigLocator. There were 20 rigs working here this time last year.

  • Ensign 45 is drilling for gas for Encana at Briar Ridge. Spud was Nov. 8.

  • Ensign 49 is drilling for gas for Encana at Tower Lake. Spud was Nov. 16.

  • Ensign 55 is drilling for gas for Encana at Briar Ridge. Spud was Nov. 20.

  • Horizon 41 is drilling for gas for Encana at Briar Ridge. Spud was Nov. 9.

  • Horizon 55 is drilling for gas for Kelt Exploration at Inga. Spud was Nov. 20.

  • Precision 521 is moving in to Tower Lake to drill for gas for Encana.

  • Precision 538 is drilling for gas for Tourmaline at Sunrise. Spud was Nov. 21.

  • Precision 542 is moving in Parkland to drill for gas for ARC Resources.

  • Precision 544 is drilling for gas for Petronas at Town. Spud was Nov. 20.

  • Precision 546 is drilling for gas for Tourmaline at Town. Spud was Nov. 20.

  • Precision 867 is drilling for gas for ConocoPhillips at Blueberry. Spud was Nov. 14.

Across Western Canada, 138 rigs are at work, a quarter of the fleet, and down from 149 last week.

Alberta has 90 rigs working, down 10. Saskatchewan has 32 rigs working, down one.

Five of seven rigs are active in Manitoba; one is active in Ontario.

There were 220 rigs at work in Canada this time last year. 

Data from RigLocator is compiled twice daily based on reports from the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors.
