Real estate sales were up and listings were down in Fort St. John in the first nine months of the year.
The BC Northern Real Estate Board released its latest results for the year on Friday, reporting a total of 401 properties worth $146.2 million had sold in Fort St. John at Sept. 30.
That's up slightly from the 365 properties worth $144.9 million sold to the same point in 2017.
Realtors had sold 236 single-family homes for an average price of $367,395, and took an average of 90 days to sell. Half of the homes sold went for less than $350,000.
At this time last year, 177 single-family homes had sold for an average price off $394,882.
The city has also seen the sale of 29 half-duplexes, 39 manufactured homes, 46 homes on acreages, and 16 vacant lots so far this year.
There were 708 properties for sale through MLS in the Fort St. John area as of Sept. 30, down from 799 in 2017.
In Fort Nelson, the number of sales has increased from 37 in 2017 to 66 in 2018, and the number of listings decreased from 152 in 2017 to 115 in 2018, the board reported.
"The economy in the north and north central regions of the province remains strong and the recent LNG announcement will hopefully renew confidence for consumers in the Peace region," the board noted in a release.
