One resident has died in connection to a COVID-19 outbreak at the Peace Villa care home.
Northern Health declared the outbreak at the Meadow House on Nov. 4, and said in an update Monday that one resident has since died. To date, three residents and three staff have tested positive for COVID-19.
"Sadly, one resident who had tested positive in association with this outbreak has passed away," the health authority said in a statement Nov. 22. "Northern Health extends condolences to the family, friends and caregivers of this individual."
The death was one of four reported in the Northern Health region on Monday. According to the Ministry of Health, there are 528 active cases in the NHA region, including 48 in hospital, 18 in critical care.
No new cases have been identified in association with the Peace Villa outbreak, Northern Health said. Enhanced outbreak control measures remain in place.
"Public health officials will continue to monitor the situation carefully over coming weeks and will only declare the outbreak over when they are confident that chains of transmission have been stopped," Northern Health said.
