The BC Oil and Gas Commission says it will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination from all employees and contractors in the next three months.

Staff and office-based contractors at the Commission’s seven offices throughout B.C. will be required to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 10, 2021, and for all field-based contractors, by Jan. 10, 2022.

The OGC said the decision follows the province's announcement that all public service employees will need to be fully vaccinated by Nov. 22.

"While this mandate does not apply to Crown corporations, safety is the Commission’s number one goal and we believe this plan will help make our employees and contract workers safer, while contributing to the health and safety of the communities we live in and serve, the Commission said in a statement.

"In the coming weeks, the Commission will work with its employees, unions, and contractors to further define the vaccination policy and provide additional details for the rollout of this decision."
