Port Moody gym to offer free virtual PE classes every weekday

Tri-City gym launches the free online PE classes for students, parents and teachers starting Monday, April 6.

It’s one thing to role out the math worksheets or even get your kid hooked on a book. But at time of quarantine, when many are working from home and cautious to avoid crowds, physical education — or PE — can be a challenge. 

In an effort to bring a little physical routine into the void, a Tri-City gym is launching free online PE classes for students, parents and teachers. Anyone can access the virtual classes through the Port Moody’s LIFT Fitness YouTube channel starting Monday, April 6.

Classes will be posted Monday to Friday at 10 a.m.

The PE classes are part of a wave of face-to-face businesses finding new ways to connect with people under quarantine. 

Several gyms have moved their classes online while others, facing massive declines in revenue, have fallen into insolvency and shuttered their doors.

But private enterprise isn't the only way for students to stay active. The province has its own set of virtual resources, which are all available online through a new portal to help children continue learning throughout the COVID-19 outbreak. And as teachers reach out to their students across the Tri-Cities, and the province, The Tri-City News is reportig that more opportunities will beocome available
