As part of their long running Community Social Responsibility Fund program and to commemorate October 15th, which is International Credit Union Day, Lake View Credit Union is pleased to announce that they are awarding $25,000 to various non-profit projects and programs from around the Peace region.
Lake View Credit Union CEO, Lori Archibald, commented on the program, “This year, more than ever before, non-profits throughout the region need assistance. The situation created by the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the funding and financial stability of many organizations throughout our region. The people involved in these community initiatives do a great deal of important work helping the those in need and creating the quality of life we all enjoy.” She continued, “We’re very proud to be able to support them.”
Dale Rose, Vice Chair and committee member added, “We take the allocation of these funds very seriously, because this is, at the end of the day, our members’ money and it’s their continued loyalty that allows Lake View Credit Union to give back to our region in this fashion. We think this year’s recipients represent some of the very best work being done throughout the region and I want to congratulate and thank them all for their applications and hard work.”
The employees and directors of the Community Social Responsibility Fund Committee would like to thank all the applicants for their submissions and look forward to seeing their various projects come to fruition.
Unlike in previous years, which involved cheque presentations done at a ceremony, this year’s will be done remotely in a safe socially distanced manner.
The recipients of the funds for the 2020 program are as follows:
- 258 Little Giants Air Cadets: $500 in funding to help purchase camping equipment.
- Campus Kids Daycare: $3,000 to assist in upgrading outdoor equipment for infant activities and toy storage.
- Dawson Creek Community Garden Society: $1,000 to purchase supplies for the creation of raised garden beds.
- DC Literacy Society (Lake View Learning Centre): $3,000 to replace obsolete computers and other staff equipment.
- South Peace Palliative Care Society: $1,000 to help facilitate the creation of a Death Café event for the recently bereaved.
- Tumbler Ridge Mountain Bike Association: $7,500 towards the completion of the downhill and pump track project in Tumbler Ridge
- Little Prairie Elementary School: $2,500 to assist in the purchase of a green house for outdoor learning activities.
- DC Art Gallery: $1,500 to help purchase supplies for Fall and Winter youth programming.
- Dawson Creek Opioid Action Team: $5,000 to help in the delivery of vital programming.
