Structure protection specialists on scene in Tumbler

The District of Tumbler Ridge is still under evacuation notice due to the out-of-control West Kiskatinaw River Fire - with three structure protection specialists on hand.

The specialists arrived this morning to continue prepping houses on the upper bench while Two Structure Protection Units are on site and a Type 1 (18-wheeler unit) is on the way.

The fire is approximately 23,000 hectares and breached the highway for a short time near Happy Face Hill, however it did not travel far.

A total of six helicopters are currently attached to the South Peace Complex, with various flying conditions as well as 31 pieces of heavy equipment have arrived to assist in building guards.
