DC's U11 Dynamite soccer pick up silver in GP

5-0 to win a silver!

Coaches Liam Cosgrove, Cara Funk, and Allison Bijl all agree Dawson Creek has a lot to be proud of when it comes to our soccer players, on and off the pitch.

After Swan City FC announced that they would be hosting a Koora Cup, a sanctioned tournament, on July 7-8, two U11 teams; Dawson Dynamite (coached by Allison Bijl, Cara Funk, and Liam Cosgrove) and the Chargers, (coached by Sam Moxon and Katie Tanner), and the U13 team (coached by Robert Eichelberger), were formed and headed to Grande Prairie.

The games were competitive; Dawson’s U13 team, had a 6-6 draw and lost in the shoot out to Grande Prairie’s Competitive team.  The U11 Chargers came in fifth place overall.  U11’s Dawson Dynamite headed into their 4th and final game against the the Grande Prairie competitive team tied with Fort St John’s high performance team.

They won that final game 5-0 and earned silver!

In addition to the overall buzz in the air regarding how exciting it is to have more local opportunities happening for soccer players wanting to take their game to the next level, there was also positive feedback from the refs and coaches about how sportsmanlike the Dawson teams were.

"Dawson Creek Rep teams-you made your city proud," say coaches.
