After a hiatus of 16 years, rodeo days are coming back to Chetwynd.
The first annual Chetwynd Rodeo goes this Saturday and Sunday at the Chetwynd Rodeo Grounds. The rodeo is BCRA (BC Rodeo Association) sanctioned event.
“We had a group with our heads together this year, and said let’s bring the rodeo back to Chetwynd,” says Shelley Nikirk Currier. “We’ve had rodeos in Chetwynd, but they weren’t sanctioned.
“[The rodeo] brings people from all over from BC and Northern Alberta. We’ve had probably over 100 entries.”
There will be a beer garden and concessions at the rodeo. Saturday at 9 pm there will be a rodeo dance featuring Dark Horse.
Rodeo action begins at 1 pm both days.
