Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies 2019 federal election candidates

The next federal election will take place Oct. 21, with an estimated 78,250 residents eligible to vote in the riding of Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies.

Here is a list of candidates so far:

• Bob Zimmer

Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies MP Bob Zimmer. - Matt Preprost

Incumbent MP Bob Zimmer of Fort St. John will be seeking a third term for the Conservatives.

Zimmer, a former teacher and carpenter who got his start in politics with the Reform Party, was first elected for the Conservatives in 2011.

• Ron Vaillant 

Ron Vaillant, candidate for the People's Party in Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies. - Matt Preprost

Ron Vaillant of Lacombe, Alta., is the candidate for the People's Party.

Vaillant, a journeyman carpenter and pipefitter by trade, was nominated as candidate after a shuffle in his home riding of Red Deer-Lacombe.

• Catharine Kendall

Catharine Kendall of Eaglet Lake is the candidate for the Greens.

Kendall is a community development consultant and executive director and co-found of the Connaught Youth Centre Society in Prince George, and vice-president of the Eaglet Lake Farmers’ Institute.

The Liberals and NDP have yet to announce candidates for the riding, and party officials have yet to return requests for comment.

The Liberals list Tracy Calogheros as riding chair on its party website, however, that information is not up to date. Calogheros is the Liberal candidate for Cariboo-Prince George.
