Two long-time residents of Fort St John donated $10,000 to the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation Endowment Fund this month to create a lasting impression in this place they call home.
The donors requested to remain anonymous, but the Foundation said May 29 that the heartfelt contribution during May’s Leave a Legacy month represents the thoughtfulness and generosity of people who are the fabric of the community.
“It is their legacy that we carry forward. I want to share our special appreciation for their incredible donation. I am truly touched by their gift,” said Executive Director Niki Hedges.
“Making a gift to the FSJ Hospital Foundation Endowment Fund or to a special Named Endowment Fund creates a perpetual stream of financial support for the future. You are planting a seed that will grow into something for future generations as only the income is used to support the mission and mandate of the Hospital Foundation, which is to enhance the comfort and care of patients at the FSJ Hospital & Peace Villa Care Facility.”
The Foundation says financial planners can help guide residents about how to arrange a living charitable gift and other options that offer attractive tax incentives.
“Planning now for your future and the future of the Fort St John Hospital Foundation can be mutually beneficial,” said Board Chair Chris Maundrell.
“We are here to talk about how planned giving to the Fort St John Hospital Foundation can have a powerful impact on our community. We hold true to those that choose to create a legacy in this way, as it is never an easy decision to make, but an important one. We are very grateful for the generosity and spirit in which this legacy gift has been made.”
