$25,000 to support Hospital Foundation's COVID fund

ConocoPhillips has made the latest major contribution to the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation and its COVID-19 Greatest Need Campaign.

The company recently donated $25,000, which the Hospital Foundation says will support priority equipment and supply needs for medical and front-line workers at the hospital and Peace Villa care home.

“We’re extremely grateful to the men and women on the frontline,” said Kirk Johnson, president of ConocoPhillips Canada. “The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation and COVID-19 Greatest Need Campaign have been instrumental in helping the community, where many of our staff live and work, and we’re proud to support this important cause.”

The Hospital Foundation launched the fund at the end March, when the hospital was designated a primary COVID-19 site for the northeast.

It has since received several significant donations, including $25,000 from an anonymous donor, $20,000 from Shell Canada, and $10,000 each from Enbridge and AltaGas. It has also received $5,000 from the Northern BC Truckers Association, $1,000 from Telus, and a second $2,000 anonymous donation.

The Hospital Foundation says it is grateful for community efforts that have helped it to respond to the pandemic, including those who have volunteered their time to sew scrub caps, face masks, and laundry bags for staff, or deliver them meals.

“We recognize that companies are in different phases of dealing with the changing environment, as the impacts vary by geography and sector. It is in times like these that we are grateful to our corporate partners who have been able to come forward with the necessary resources and donations, such as this most recent donation," said Executive Director Niki Hedges. "ConocoPhillips Canada’s philanthropy is essential to our work in Fort St. John as we respond to the needs, health and wellbeing of everyone in the community.”
