The City of Fort St John and the North Peace Cultural Society have agreed to 90 day cooling period to continue discussing the future of the cultural centre. The society was invited to the meeting by the city to further discuss issues raised during the society's presentation on July 12.
Mayor Lori Ackerman and Society Chair Connie Surerus approved a joint statement after today's meeting, which started at 3 p.m.
“Following this cooling-off period, the City and Society have agreed to meet, using a neutral third party, to further discuss the future of the North Peace Cultural Centre and mutually agreed-upon outcomes," read the statement.
"During this time period and any subsequent transitional periods, all facility user bookings and rentals will be honoured. We look forward to working together to further the arts and cultural fabric of our community.”
No further statements will be provided by either party as a term of the cooling-off period.
