Enjoy it while the lasts – the warmer weather, that is.
After almost a week of above-zero temperatures, daytime temperatures are forecast to fall to minus 13 on Sunday.
“We still have plenty of winter left,” according to Environment Canada's Bobby Sekhon. “We're going to see Arctic air come down from the Yukon into Northern B.C. by early next week.”
As for how long it might stay?
“Some models have it sticking around all of next week,” says Sekhon. “Other models have it as a blip as temperatures climb back up towards late next week. What we do know is that by the end of the weekend we're going to see a lot colder temperatures as we get into next week.”
Our recent stretch of plus temperatures is certainly not uncommon, nor is a drop to minus 20 or colder in late January.
“January is the month we see the most variability in temperatures out of all the months of the year,” acknowledges Sekhon.
