Frostbite can occur in minutes
extreme-cold
An Extreme Cold Warning has been issued by Environment Canada for the B.C. Peace River and Grande Prairie regions. Wind chill values could reach -40.

The latest Arctic blast over the Peace Country could see temperatures plummet into the minus 30's tonight, and with the wind chill, near -40, through Tuesday morning.

As a result, Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for the B.C. Peace and Grande Prairie regions, advising of frostbite within minutes on exposed skin and an added risk of hypothermia for prolonged exposure.

Winds are forecast to pick up overnight to 20 km/h dropping temperatures to dangerous levels.

The mercury, though, is expected to rise into the mid-minus teens Tuesday afternoon and back above freezing on Friday.
