Fort St. John byelection: What’s the heaviest animal you could take in a fight?

Turtles, penguins, bears!
Fort St. John byelection canadidates discuss animal fights at the All Candidates Forum, May 3, 2021.

This week's All Candidates Forum for the upcoming byelection covered plenty of ground and serious challenges facing Fort St. John, but it also provided a few moments of levity.

Viewers were encouraged to submit questions during the virtual forum via Pigeonhole, with more than 260 participants joining in to ask more than 80 questions. One of the top voted questions asked candidates what the heaviest animal they believed they could take in a fight was, and why.

Here are their responses:

Sarah MacDougall: I’m not a fighter, but I’m going to go with a turtle because they can be very heavy and they’re slow, so I could probably get 'em.

Tom Whitton: I could probably take a large dog. I like dogs, I’ve got a dog at the house, but it seems like the most relevant answer.

Jim Lequiere: It’s not my nature. I would never harm an animal so I’m not even going to answer that.

Jon Gosselin: I’d probably take on a bear because I know I’d lose.

Trystan Jones: I would go the alternative route and I would say an emperor penguin purely because I’ve seen the movie Happy Feet and I am a killer on the dance floor. I definitely think I would out dance an emperor penguin.
