The Fort St. John fire department remains at the scene of an early morning fire that seriously damaged two duplexes.
Crews were called to the 11100 block of 102 Avenue just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday to find two separate duplex structures were heavily involved, said Fire Chief Darrell Blades.
“The initial fire attack had to overcome strong winds out of the southwest,” Blades said. “Fire damage was extensive to one unit in each duplex with water and smoke damage to the adjoining units in each structure.”
Three people from one of the duplexes were taken to hospital for observations, he said.
The department remains on scene with with a crew and fire apparatus monitoring the site. The cause is under investigation.
The fire department responded with four fire apparatus and one duty vehicle for a total of 15 members, Blades said.
The Charlie Lake Fire Department responded with one fire engine and a duty vehicle for five members. BC Ambulance, RCMP, PNG, and BC Hydro were also on scene.
