Fort St John RCMP recognizes Project Rainbow

For the past two years, RCMP Corporal Brendan Harkness has been working on a campaign to highlight and promote acceptance, diversity and inclusiveness within the RCMP as an organization as well as to the communities they serve.  On October 15, 2020, the BC RCMP announced Project Rainbow.
To create additional public awareness, detachments across BC are displaying the Pride flag along with an explanation placard in prominent areas of the detachment entrance.
"We want our community to have confidence that the RCMP can be approached without judgement and that they can feel safe speaking to police," said Inspector Anthony Hanson, Fort St John RCMP detachment commander.  "This sticker is a visible reminder of that to every person who enters our door and it is my hope that it is reassuring to those who need police assistance."
The Fort St John RCMP has chosen to display the Pride Rainbow sticker in support of Project Rainbow and as a reflection, acknowledgement, and support for the LGBTQ2S+ community within the Fort St John and area community.
