School District 60 received a $40,000 donation from Canadian Natural Resources on Monday to ensure vulnerable students have access to meals and snacks.

It's the second time around the company has supported the school district's meal programs, after donating $40,000 last September.

"We're happy to support programs like this anyway we can," said Operations Superintendent Richard Calliou, who met with staff and trustees to deliver the funds in person.

SD60 Board Chair Helen Gilbert says the meal program has been making a huge difference in the lives of students in need.

"What I've been noticing is that there's a lot of kids who come to school and they haven't eaten, especially over the last year with this pandemic," she said.
