Fort St. John Women's Resource Society rewarded for good deeds

The Fort St. John Women's Resource Society is one of 44 community groups across Canada to split $22,000 in good deeds funding.

The Society was one of 4,800 groups nominated during this year's Deeds Well Done campaign organized by Mr. Mikes, and won $500 in support of the cause as well as a group dinner.

“We were pleased to see such an overwhelming level of involvement from community members in selecting and nominating local charities this year,” said president Robin Chakrabarti.

“It’s inspiring to see so many organizations who are doing vital work in their communities." 

The campaign has donated more than $100,000 to more than 290 community groups since launching in 2013.

Other regional groups receiving funding include:

  • Peace Pregnancy Support Society in Dawson Creek;

  • Helping Hands in Grande Prairie;

  • Autism Society of the RMWB in Fort McMurray;

  • Tamitik Status of Women Association in Kitimat;

  • Peace River SPCA in Peace River;

  • Police Victim Services in Prince George;

  • Kimmunity Angels Society in Terrace;

  • Friends of Whitecourt Society in Whitecourt; and

  • Potato House Project in Williams Lake.
