Front porch portraits support women's centre

A Fort St. John photographer is collecting front porch portraits of families during the COVID-19 pandemic, in exchange for food donations for the Women’s Resource Society.

Cassie Sonnenberg has brought the growing movement to the city, and thought it might be a great way to use her skills for good during this public health crisis.

“It’s actually a global initiative from what I’ve seen, some photographer friends have been doing this back home,” said Sonnenberg, who moved here from Drayton Valley for work more than three years ago.

Sonnenberg says she got to know the Women's Resource Society through several fundraisers put on by Enbridge.

“It’s about being positive, trying to make happy memories in dark time. A lot of people are going need help,” said Sonnenberg.

Those who want to take part will enjoy a fully edited family portrait, personally taken by Sonnenberg at a safe distance. Families are encouraged to get creative and wear popsicle masks or make signs, and pose on their front porch.

Space is limited, with five spots left for this Thursday. However, if interest continues, Sonnenberg is willing to schedule another day of shoots.

Those interested can connect with Sonnenberg and Sparked Soul Photography on Facebook.
