Police have reported that a search warrant executed on Hallowe’en in Fort St. John resulted in a seizure of cocaine, marijuana and over $8,000 in cash.
At around 8 a.m. on Oct. 31, police say, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on 109 Street. During the search, RCMP reported finding just over half a pound of crack and powder cocaine, which they say was going to be processed for sale, as well as about an ounce of marijuana and the cash.
Police went on to say a 27-year-old male was arrested in his residence. Calvin Sean Gunning has been charged, according to reports, with one count of possession of a drug for trafficking and one count of drug possession.
Gunning also faces four counts from last May, police reported, adding that in that earlier incident, he was allegedly found to have cocaine and fentanyl in his possession. (Fentanyl is a synthetic opiate more powerful than morphine.)
None of the above charges have been proven in court.
“We are very proud of the work our drug section is doing,” said Fort St. John RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie in a release. “They have made numerous and significant seizures over the past few months and many people have been charged for possessing and trafficking in illegal drugs.
“It’s important to not only keep the city safe by taking the drugs off the street but also to bring consequences to the people who choose to supply the drugs.”
