Seniors homes in the Peace region are asking the public to send in letters for residents during the COVID-19 crisis.
The virus poses a significant health risk to the elderly population, with many residences having gone into lockdown.
Kelly White, recreation co-ordinator at Peace Villa, says anyone is welcome to send a letter.
Writers are encouraged to share their thoughts and let seniors know what’s happening in the community.
“They’re missing some of the friendships and the bonds they’ve built here. It’s tough when family can’t come in like they usually do,” said White.
“We want to let the residents know that they’re still thought about and cared about,” says White.
Letters are also being sought for Abbeyfield House, Heritage Manors 1, 2, and 3, Taylor McMahon Manor, and North Peace Seniors Housing.
Letters will be printed at the facilities and then given to seniors to prevent the spread of the virus or other illnesses. As of this morning, Peace Villa had received three.
Letters can be sent to these email addresses with “Letter to Senior” in the subject line:
Peace Villa - firstname.lastname@example.org
Abbeyfield - email@example.com
Heritage 1 2 3 and Taylor McMahon Manor - firstname.lastname@example.org
North Peace Seniors Housing - email@example.com
