Man robs Fort St. John Scotiabank, police searching for suspect

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man who robbed the Scotiabank in downtown Fort St. John on Thursday afternoon.

According to RCMP, a male entered the bank at 4:20 p.m. and gave a note to a teller demanding he be given money. Police describe the man as between 23 to 30 years old, slim, and between 5’8” and 6’. He was wearing a dark toque, grey zipped hoodie with pockets in the front, dark pants, and running shoes.

The suspect obtained the money and fled the scene on foot. No injuries were sustained, and the incident is still under investigation.

There was a heavy police presence at the bank shortly after the incident, with cruisers parked in the alley and sidewalk outside the bank as officers spoke with people in the area.

Police are asking anyone with any knowledge of the incident to call the RCMP at 250-787-8100 or if they wish to remain anonymous to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
