Nomination papers are quickly make their way across the desks of chief elections officers in the region with a Friday 4 p.m. deadline just days away. Current Taylor councillor Michelle Turnbull tweeted a photo of her nomination papers Tuesday.

A fairly busy Tuesday, so far, in the filing of nomination papers in the run-up to next month’s municipal and school board elections.

Reg Knox became the first candidate to formally declare his intentions for the mayor’s chair in Hudson’s Hope.

Current councillors Kelly Miller and Valerie Paice are also looking to be returned as councillors.

Area C director and current Peace River Regional District chair Brad Sperling filed his paperwork Tuesday, as did incumbent Zone 4 school trustee Ida Campbell and newcomer Thomas Whitton in Zone 5.

Add Michelle Turnbull to the ballot in Taylor, after she filed Tuesday morning, asking voters in the community to return her as councillor.

And, Fred McLachlan is also looking to earn a councillor’s seat, but in Fort Nelson for the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality.

No new names were added by early Tuesday afternoon in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, Pouce Coupe, or School District 59 but that could change very quickly as submissions are formalized ahead of Friday’s 4 p.m. deadline to file.
