Northern Lights College has welcomed Faisal Rashid as its new Chair of Business Management.

Rashid, a business instructor, was appointed to the role due to the growth of the program, according to an announcement from the college.

The college says Rashid "brought a wealth of experience in teaching and leadership to NLC when he joined us in 2011 as an instructor. Since then, he has served as a member and Chair of NLC’s Education Council, as well as in the faculty position on the NLC Board of Governors.”

Rashid received the Humanitarian Award at the 10th Annual Fort St. John Community Awards in 2017.

Meantime, biology instructor Cindy Broberg has been reappointed as Chair of University Arts and Sciences for another two years, until May 31, 2024, the college announced.

“As a long-time NLC employee with excellent leadership qualities, Cindy will continue to use her skills to take the Arts and Sciences division forward with continuity and dedication to quality education delivery,” the college said.

The college says both Rashid and Broberg will “work in concert with existing chairs, notably Issoufou Soumaila, who is the other chair within the University Arts and Sciences department.”
