NPSS students are competing with others at high schools across the country online for a chance to win scholarships and prize money for the school. The competition involves students researching career opportunities, and universiy and college programs while earning points.

“As a rural school, our students do not get very much exposure to universities and various career opportunities," teacher Dustin Barry said. "ChatterHigh and the competition provided them with the opportunity to explore university programs throughout B.C. and Alberta."

North Peace Secondary placed first in their AAA 500-1000 Student division in 2016, ahead of Carleton North High School in New Brunswick and Windsor Secondary in North Vancouver. There were 120 students who took part, raising several hundred dollars for Free the Children, which builds schools in impoverished countries.

"This became a competition of who could donate more to help the children. With the students actively engaged, ChatterHigh became a part of our daily routine," Barry said.

"They are all looking forward to future competitions and contributing to a good cause.”

The school is currently in third place on the AAA leaderboard for the 2017 competition, behind Jarvis Collegiate Institute in Toronto and Kalamalka Secondary in Coldstream.
