North Peace Secondary Grizzlies Weekly Athletics Update

A great week was had by all as our NPSS track & field team took part in the North Central District Zone Championships.

The Grizzlies represented our school with grit and determination.

Our junior team placed 11th with Isabelle Bojczuk leading the way with second place in the hammer throw, high jump and 1500m steeplechase. Ava Long placed 3rd in shot put, and 4th in steeplechase.

The seniors team placed 6th, led by Kane Schreiner, who placed first in the 400m earning him a berth in the Provincial Track Meet next month and 2nd in the 800m. Meghan Stobbe placed 3rd in 800m, high jump, 5th in discus and javelin. Ronin Laurie placed 7th in 200m, long jump, high jump and 5th 400m. Sidney Bennie placed 3rd in 1500m, and 5th in the 800m. Jayden Whitford placed 3rd in 200m and 4th in the 100m.

On Thursday (May 19) the North Peace rugby teams hosted St. Joe’s from Grande Prairie.

The girls played first in an exciting match winning 30-5.

The boys played after in a 7’s match, which is a much faster paced game.

Scoring a try and the final 2 points to break the tie in the last moments of the game winning 14-12.

Next up are the semi finals for both boys and girls teams in Grande Prairie next Thursday (May 26).
