I don’t know about you guys, but I am getting tired of all of this smoke. One day you can’t see past the tree line then the next day the sky is blue, and the sun is shining. There is no happy medium.
Hello, my name is Jessica Wiebe I am the reporter of the Prespatou 4-H Community Club.
Our club has been really busy. We have something going on every week in June. We have been working on fundraising for our club. As well we are doing judging rally, mini rallies weigh in and working in our record books.
It is also that time of year where the members are getting ready for achievement days. The members have been working hard with their animals. It’s the season where the members are washing their animals clipping and/or shearing them.
The sheep have been sheared and we are starting to wash the lambs and to do touch ups after the clippers. Our lambs are really easy to wash this year. Loving the hair sheep for that.
The beef animals are doing really good. Wednesday we had one of our former 4-H leaders do a grooming clinic . It is amazing what all goes into a goof looking steer. There is so much to learn. The best way to do that is hands on!
Our club is doing the club judging rally on June 15th. For those who don’t know what a judging rally is, it is a day where the club gets together to judge sheep, beef, dog and an identification table. This is a good life skill as we need to know how to pick the best animals for our future 4-H projects. Or if we make farming/ranching our career it will be a great skill to have.
Hello my name is Arielle Reimer. I am 10 and this is my first year in 4H. In my first year I have learned that fundraising is important for the 4-H club. One of our biggest fundraising this year is selling wood furniture. So far we have sold two picnic tables and have stained two seating benches that will also be sold.
The benches will be ready soon and will be advertised on our 4-H Facebook page.
Fundraising is a big part because we need different things for our club. And fundraising is a way to raise money to pay for those things. Things like dog training lessons and for 4-H uniforms that we wear at events such as achievement days and even Christmas decorations when we decorate the float and join a parade. These are examples of where some of the money goes to after we have fundraised. Other fundraisers we have done this year are cleaning garbage is out of the ditches for a road maintenance company and grilling hotdogs for a carnival. There is also a gator raffle going on right now until June 24. Tickets are only 10.00 each and the club gets 3.50 per ticket sold. You can talk to our club members for the link to order tickets if you wish.
We have also been happy to get donations of other money or items from businesses that want to help out our club. We are very thankful for the donations that we get it has been fun doing this fundraising with my fellow 4-H members. I am enjoying my first year of 4H so much and I enjoy sharing about my experiences and what I am learning.
