Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the B.C. Peace, with strong winds up to 80 km/h forecast today.

Environment Canada says a low pressure system moving through Northern B.C. will cause strong, gusty winds from the south or southwest at 40-50 km/h gusting to 70-80 km/h. Winds may toss loose objects or cause small tree branches to break.

The strong winds will ease this evening, Environment Canada said.

The alert is also in effect for Prince George, Stuart - Nechako, McGregor, Williston, Bulkley Valley and the Lakes District, and the Pine Pass.
