Strong winds are causing damage in Fort St. John.
A wind warning of 90 kilometre gusts is in effect for the region, and earlier today damaged the sign at the Pomeroy Sport Centre.
"We have closed down some sidewalks and roads in the area so we can remove the signage before more damage occurs. Please avoid the area if possible," the City of Fort St. John said in a post to Facebook.
The strong southwesterly gusts are expected to carry into the evening, according to Environment Canada.
The weather agency says wind warnings are issued "when there is a significant risk of damaging winds," and cautions residents that loose objects tossed by the winds could cause injury or damage.
