The District of Taylor has closed all rec facilities due to COVID-19, but council meetings and front counter services are continuing for now.
Mayor Rob Fraser said precautions have been taken to keep more space between council members at meetings and in the District Office, and between District staff and residents at the office's front counter.
"We are continuing council meetings and office hours as normal. We won't be handling paperwork, and our staff will be maintaining distance between people at the front counter," Fraser said.
For now, the District will be focusing on maintaining current business, and reviewing and revising the upcoming budget.
"We are shutting down non-essential services, and we'll need to look at what that means for the summer, and what kind of staffing do we need. The budget isn't finalized so this provides us a good opportunity to review it," said Fraser.
"If we don’t need to gather as much money because we're not offering services, then maybe we can look at reducing the tax load for residents."
