BC Transit says it will suspend bus fares for 30 days as part of its response to COVID-19.

BC Transit said Friday passengers won't be required to pay fares for all of its services, including handyDART.

Passengers will also be able to board buses using the rear doors, where available. Passengers can still use the front doors if they require use of the ramp or other accessible features of the bus.

The measures are being put in place to encourage social distance and preventing the spread of the viral infection.

"We are working to implement these changes in communities as quickly as possible, and we would ask customers to be patient with us during this time," BC Transit said in a statement.
