Two men killed in head-on collision north of Fort St. John

A 31-year-old man from Fort St. John and an 18-year-old man from Wonowon are dead, following a collision Feb. 3 at around 7:10 p.m. at Mile 64 of the Alaska Highway, north of Fort St. John. Their names are not being released at this time.

The highway was closed in both directions from the time of the crash until 3 a.m. Feb. 4, but a detour was in place.

Officers say they arrived at the scene to find that two pick-up trucks had collided head on and the drivers of each vehicle were deceased at the scene.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation at this time and the Peace Region Traffic Services out of Fort St. John are asking anyone who may have been a witness to call police at 250-787-8140.
