The 40th annual Peace Liard Regional Juried Art Exhibition opens tonight in Tumbler Ridge.
The Peace Liard Regional Arts Council and Tumbler Ridge Community Arts Council are celebrating local artists with this year’s theme, Open Sky.
The exhibition features original art from artists across the region, and in all mediums, from sculpture to photography to stained glass to paintings, and more. It also features a youth exhibit for young artists age 10 to 17.
Awards will be given out for distinguished representational, conceptual, three-dimensional, and photography works, as will the Toni Onley Artists’ Project Scholarship.
This year's exhibition is being adjudicated by B.C. artists Lynette La Fontaine, a Métis beadworker and Knowledge Keeper, as well as Cara Guri, a realist portraitist.
The exhibit’s opening starts at 7 p.m. Friday night at the visitor centre, and will run through to May 30.
Exhibit submissions can be viewed on the Open Sky exhibit website.
