The City of Fort St John and the North Peace Cultural Society held their first mediation session this week over the future of the North Peace Cultural Centre, with both parties expressing a positive outcome.

The city's Chief Administrative Officer Milo MacDonald and society Board Chair Connie Surerus issued this joint statement in a press release

“The session allowed for positive dialogue, and both parties left with a better understanding of each other, including the intention to engage in another session soon. As a result, both the City and Society head into the holiday season with a renewed sense of optimism for a solution that ensures the community’s best interests."

Facility user bookings and rentals will be continue to be honoured.

A pop-up art show with Peace Gallery North for the launch of the new art space Peace Studio North at the Northern Grand Hotel runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at 9834 100th Ave, a collaboration between the city and the society.
