The Burnaby Board of Trade announced the finalists for each of the 9 categories of the 22nd annual Burnaby Business Excellence Awards (BBEAs).

Up for business of the year is Fantuan, one of North America’s largest food delivery apps that was founded right here in Burnaby. The app specializes in Asian food deliveries, but has also unveiled a new English version.

Fantuan says it grew by nearly 400% last year, and is seeing enormous demand across Canada and the United States.

“Throughout the pandemic, Fantuan has offered lower commissions, higher pay, and more opportunities to people affected by the pandemic (especially at-risk minority groups whose jobs were negatively impacted),” the company said in a statement.

Fantuan is now also adding more non-Asian options to the app, including Mexican food, pizza, burgers and sandwiches, fried chicken, and barbecue favourites.

The BBEAs are a joint program of the City of Burnaby and the Burnaby Board of Trade, and represent an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contributions of our business community.

On Nov. 3, the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards will be returning with a safe, in-person Awards Luncheon event!

Nine awards will be handed out live during this special event which will also feature an interactive walk-through reception, an expertly-prepared 3-course luncheon, and the long-overdue opportunity to reconnect with fellow professionals, leaders and contacts.
