Thousands without power due to motor vehicle accident

Nearly 3,000 Dawson Creek residents north of Alaska Avenue and west of 8 Street lost power to their homes on the early evening of Dec. 29. The outage was due to a motor vehicle accident, according to Dave Conway, BC Hydro Community Relations.

"It was fairly large," he said. "Power went off, for us, at about 4:52 p.m. Power was restored approximately 6:24 p.m."

Conway reported the outage affected the areas east of the Haddow Subdivision, south of 214 Road, and west of Reasbeck Road.

RCMP had one report of a motor vehicle accident closer to 8 p.m. on Dec. 29, but was unable to confirm an accident at the time of the power outage.
