The 2019-20 High School Rodeo of B.C. season has come to an end. The HSR of B.C. Board of Directors announced May 21 the cancellation of the Seniors Provincial High School Finals scheduled June 12 to 14 in Fort St. John, as well as the rest of the spring season.

The Junior Provincial High School Finals in Barriere were originally postponed to May 30 to June 1, but have been officially cancelled as well.

"Our members are very disappointed, as are many people for various reasons at this difficult and trying time. That being said, the safety of our members, families, sponsors and personnel is our priority at this time," wrote HSR of BC Secretary Bonny Mills in an email.

As of right now, the 2020 National High School Finals Rodeo is still scheduled for July 19 to 25 in Lincoln, Nebraska. A nationals team will still be selected from BCHSRA riders in case it becomes possible for the athletes to attend the rodeo.

Mills said the board and membership thank the sponsors for their support, and will be in touch with them regarding funding and sponsorship for the 2020-21 season.
